PICKLEBALL MEMBERSHIP TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Welcome to Pickleball at Glen Waverley Bowls Club. These terms and conditions are intended to promote a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for all members and guests.
1. Membership Benefits
Membership includes access to:

Pickleball courts during operational hours

Club social sessions
-
Use of paddles and balls
-
Participation in club events and activities
-
Members’ WhatsApp group
-
Weekly club newsletter
2. Membership Responsibilities
Membership is personal and non-transferable.

Comply with all club rules, regulations and policies

Keep access codes confidential. Sharing access codes is strictly prohibited

Use club facilities and equipment responsibly

Members are responsible for any damage caused to club equipment through misuse or negligence
-
Return all bags, paddles and balls to the equipment shed after use
-
Lock the equipment shed and gate when leaving
-
Keep courts and surrounding areas clean and tidy
-
Support the club through volunteering unless a non-volunteering surcharge has been paid

Members under 18 years of age must have parent or guardian consent to participate and be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.

The club does not have a BYO licence. Alcohol must not be brought onto club premises
3. Court Use
Courts are available for use during daylight hours, subject to club activities, functions, events and maintenance requirements.

Wear non-marking shoes

Use courts for pickleball and club approved activities only

Members are not permitted to conduct paid coaching lessons without prior club approval

Smoking and vaping are not permitted on the courts. These activities may only take place on the club’s bitumen areas

Alcohol consumption is not permitted on the courts but may be consumed in surrounding areas
4. Participation and Medical Fitness

Participation in pickleball involves inherent risks, including the risk of physical injury.

Members acknowledge that they are medically fit and physically able to participate in pickleball activities
5. Guests Policy
Members may invite guests to play pickleball at the club, provided that:

The inviting member accompanies their guests during the visit

Guests must register with the club and pay the applicable guest fee prior to the visit

Members are responsible for their guests’ behaviour and conduct while on club premises

Guests participate at their own risk

Guests comply with all club rules, regulations and policies
6. Conduct

All members and guests are expected to demonstrate integrity, respect, responsibility, fairness and safety at all times

Breaches of these terms and conditions or any other club policies may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or termination of membership
7. Making a Complaint
Complaints can be made informally or formally to:

Any member of the Board of Management

Complaints can be made verbally or in writing. Anonymous complaints will be considered, recognising that anonymity may limit the club’s ability to investigate

Complaints and disciplinary actions[1] will be managed according to the club’s Constitution[2]
8. Personal Property

The club does not accept responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged personal belongings
9. Media Consent

Photographs, recordings or videos taken during pickleball or other club activities may be used by the club for promotional, communication and marketing purposes, including use on social media, newsletters and club website

Members who do not wish to appear in such material must notify the club in writing
10. Membership Renewal
Annual membership is valid from 1 May to 30 April of the following year.

Renewal notifications will be sent prior to membership expiry

Membership fees are payable by the due date advised by the club

Members are responsible for ensuring their contact details remain current
11. Changes to Terms and Conditions

The club reserves the right to update or modify these terms and conditions from time to time. Members will be notified of any material changes. Continued membership and use of club facilities constitute acceptance of all updated terms
12. Agreement

By joining or renewing membership, members acknowledge that they have read, understood and agree to comply with these terms and conditions and all club rules, regulations and policies
